This is it...the first podcast. It took me longer to get things going that I'd thought, but I'm on a roll now. This first one is lengthy (~35 min), so be patient as I explain what the show is about, who it's for, and get into a bit of why I'm doing it. We'll spend a little time on some news and resources, who I am, and wrap up with a little overview of podcasting along with a summary of podcasting history.

Welcome to the RoboTech Show!

I'll be honest, I never thought anyone would want to listen to the "mundane" monologue of someone working through miscellaneous computing technologies -- unless Leo Laporte (see This Week In Tech) was on the microphone. But then I listened to the Mike Tech Show and realized quickly, that I was captivated. Mike's show was the inspiration behind my foray into Podcasting...if you're into IT, listen to his show. Then I "tuned into" Geek News Central and realized that when listening to these Podcasts on my mp3 player while driving to/from work, my drive time (45 min. each way) seemed to dwindle down to almost nothing...heck, I frequently stay in my car after reaching my destination just to finish listening to the Podcast!

Well, I love technology, and really love to dabble in all things Robotics (hardware assembly, microcontrollers, motors, software, etc). I've also maintained an interest in audio production as well as talking about technology, so I've decided to put together a podcast on technologies used in robotics. I'll focus on entry-level content (I'm a relative novice) and news, and I'll pull content from personal learning experiences as well as a variety of excellent sources--with a strong focus on the electronics and microcontroller side of things. I think it will be something that might interest someone getting started in the hobby and looking for answers, new technologies, and product reviews. I'll bring all this together and more in the Robo Tech Show and highlight other areas of discussion soon.

I hope you'll listen and send me feedback. Then I hope you subscribe and participate!

Thanks. -- Mike Elliott
